Have you heard about accelerated orthodontics? Innovative technologies like Propel and Munchies allow us to enhance Invisalign braces to reduce treatment time. In some cases, your treatment may take as little as four months! 

How Long Does Invisalign® Take? 

The traditional Invisalign treatment takes 12–18 months on average and depending on the severity of the patient’s case. At Great Northwest Dental, with Dr. Lindsey’s Invisalign expertise, most cases take between 6–12 months. With accelerated orthodontics, you can have straighter teeth in about 4 months!

What Is Propel Accelerated Orthodontics? 

Propel Orthodontics is a quickly advancing technology that uses high-frequency vibration to increase the rate at which your teeth move. Micro-osteoperforation, or MOPs®, is a technique used to place small perforations around the teeth for extra stimulation. 

MOPs® stimulation increases the body’s cellular activity, which helps your teeth move into place faster. The treatment can be done right here in our office and needs little to no recovery time. Propel’s MOPs® treatment can speed up the Invisalign process so you only have to wear your braces for months, not years!

Munchies are also a newer technology designed to stimulate movement and improve the movement rate of your teeth. Munchies® are made from a soft or firm material and are custom designed for your teeth. 

Munchies devices have been designed with “seating” in mind. Seating is what happens when your Invisalign aligner is placed over your teeth. When you bite down on one of the Munchies®, the device presses your clear teeth aligners up into place so that the edge of the aligner meets with your gum line. The aligner will also fit snug against your teeth.

When you bite down on a Munchies and push your Invisalign aligner securely into place, this encourages your treatment to work faster.

Munchies® work by: 

• Using a specifically formulated medical material with visco-elastic properties.
• Taking on a shape that works with each aligner to ensure nothing is distorted while the Munchies® are in use. 
  
• Provides the best possible fit and increasing biomarkers that speed up intercellular change. 
  
• Placing your aligners with a Munchies device helps push your aligners into a more exact position. 

Munchies® are also helpful for: 

• Pain relief. Biting down on a Munchies® device can relieve pain without the use of acetaminophen or ibuprofen. 
  
• Predictable movement. During treatment, aligners may sometimes cause a space in your bite, especially if they come loose a lot. Munchies® devices help eliminate that problem, making your treatment time shorter. 
  
• Customized care. Your Munchies device will be designed for you. The Munchies appliance comes in several different types and designs, depending on your age, jawbone density, and size of your teeth.
